About Us
Academic Brief

Devonshire is a Project Adventure School. Our school themes include challenge, risk, trust, cooperation, and problem solving. Students in grades K-5 are involved in “hands-on” types of activities in the classroom, the gymnasium, as well as field trips throughout our community. Our unique school program includes climbing walls in the gym and participation in ground level initiatives at Spruce Run Environmental Educational Center and high ropes courses at Zip Zone Outdoor Adventure Center. Our focus is to teach students “how” to think, not “what” to think. Our school has earned a state ranking of Continuous Improvement.

At Devonshire, the curriculum is aligned to the Ohio’s New Learning Standards in English Language Arts, Math, Science, and Social Studies. The standards are designed to ensure students are college and career ready when they graduate from high school. In addition to increasing the rigor of the curriculum, there is an emphasis on technology, critical thinking, communication, collaboration, and creativity. With the increased rigor of the standards, a new means of assessment is required to ensure our students are prepared for college and careers. Our students will participate in the Measures of Academic Progress (MAP) and American Institute of Research (AIR) assessments which will help ensure we as educators are preparing students for future success.
